Old-Fashioned Threshing Bee this weekend

Pleasant Prairie Farm/Foster Timmons Farms will host the annual Old-Fashioned Threshing Bee Saturday and Sunday, July 26-27.

At the bee, volunteers and steam engine enthusiasts will harvest oats as the job was done until the 1940s. The volunteers will see oat bundles pitched into the threshing machine by hand. The thresher separates the grain from the straw and chaff, and then augers the grain into a wagon.

Threshing will be done Saturday at 10 am and 2 pm, and Sunday at 1 pm and 3 pm. Steam plowing will be demonstrated Saturday at 4 pm.

The Four County Tractor Club will hold an antique tractor and truck show on the grounds, with members taking their tractors for a ride Sunday at 8 am.

There will also be a free barbecue with music by the Pleasant Prairie Band Saturday at 6 pm. All are welcome.

Pleasant Prairie Farm is located at 1176 M Ave northwest of Jefferson. From the intersection of Highways 4 and 30, travel one mile west to M Ave and then 1-1/4 mile north.
